Viola and Violin Lessons with Rebecca Blom Carle

Teacher cancellations:

All lessons cancelled by the teacher will be not be charged.  Any previous payment will be applied to a future lesson.

Inclement Weather Cancellations:

The reality of living in rural New Hampshire is that travel during winter weather can be difficult.  At all times, safety has high priority.  All reasonable attempts will be made to contact families in a timely manner, if lessons are cancelled. If the teacher has not cancelled the lesson, but the student's family feels that the drive is unsafe, there will be no charge for the cancellation. Do not hesitate to call or email the teacher to confirm that lessons are happening as scheduled or with your cancellation.

Student Cancellations:

In order to avoid a charge for the lesson time, I ask that cancellations be made one week prior to the missed lesson.  Except in the case of poor weather, cancellation made with less than a week's notice may be charged.

Lesson Schedules:

No student or family "owns" a particular lesson time slot.  All effort will be made to keep the lesson time consistent throughout the academic year, but it may vary from year to year.  Priority will be given to families with the greatest travel time and youngest students have priority for the earlier time slots.

Group Class/ Ensemble:

Opportunities to play with other students in chamber groups, group classes, or orchestra festivals will be presented through the year.  Students are encouraged to participate to develop their ensemble skills.

Siblings:

Younger and older siblings are very welcome to come to lessons, with the strong goal of not being a distraction to the lesson.  I ask that the parent come prepared with snacks, drinks and toys, as needed, to keep the sibling content during the lesson so that the focus will remain on the student.

Lesson Etiquette:

  • Please be at least 5 minutes early to your lesson.  This allows ample time to unpack instrument, rosin your bow, and use the restroom.
  • Make sure fingernails are trimmed and hands are clean before coming to each lesson.
  • If another lesson is in progress upon your arrival, please enter quietly, prepare for your lesson and quietly sit and observe.

Observation:

Observing other students is an excellent way to learn and improve your own skills.  All students are welcome to observe the lessons of other students, provided that they remain quiet and do not distract from the instruction.  Questions are to be addressed during one's own lesson time.  Students and their families should not be surprised to find their lesson being observed.  No lesson should be considered "private", just individual.
